A
Note from PZC John Budzak Jr., Conference Chairman:
Well another
conference has come and gone. I want to thank all
of the Lions on the conference committee as well as
the Lacey Sunrise and Graham Sunrise Lions for all
of their help in putting on this great conference.
The final attendance numbers were 303 district C
Lions, 37 guests from outside our district and 32
non-Lions guests for a grand total of 372
people registered at the conference. This was the
largest turnout since 1999. It was also great to
see so many first-time Lions attending the
conference.
The early
bird winners were:
PDG Polly Voon from the North Vancouver
Host Lions had her entire registration fees paid.
Bob Thomas from the Shelton Lions had
his registration and lunch paid for.
Joseph Morales from Gig Harbor received
his registration fee back.
Congratulations to these Lions! |

At the Saturday
luncheon, ID Lowell Bonds was pleased to announce a
Melvin Jones Fellowship for Ollie Bond from the
University Place Lions Club. It wasn’t much of a
surprise because the award had been mailed, as
usual, to the club’s secretary – Ollie Bond!
ID Bonds also
presented four International President’s Awards at
the Saturday night banquet. VDG Frank Paul, PZC
Rena Larson, and Cabinet Secretary Karen Schrodt
each received a President’s Appreciation Award.
And ZC Dave Pratt was very surprised when his name
was announced for the President’s Leadership Award! |

ZC Karen Sell, C-2,
and ZC Dave Pratt, C-6, tallied all the donations
from their clubs and presented a symbolic check to
Camp Leo for $5764. This was followed by a
presentation from the Kent Lions Club of their check
for $1000.
Camp Director Jan Norman
gratefully acknowledged the generous financial
support of District 19C Lions and explained that
Camp Leo is growing every year. The goal is for all
eligible campers, regardless of financial status, to
attend this educational and fun summer camp for
diabetic children.
There
was also a Camp Leo display at the Conference with a
video and brochures, along with staff members to
provide additional information (not to mention
raffle tickets!). |
