THE ARTS FESTIVAL
August 3, 4, 5 was another successful Art Festival weekend! Above is this year’s T-shirt design by David Craig. Below it is modeled by some of the Sunday morning breakfast crew. Beer Garden food sales were boosted this year by 3 class reunions that were in town over the weekend. The breakfast crowds are getting bigger every year, and we have been asked to think about serving breakfast Friday mornings as well. T-shirts sales were bolstered by a drawing for the David Craig print used for the design. The artist drew the winning ticket and the framed print was won by Cheryl Forler, owner of Hometown Sports. That was a nice twist for our first drawing of the actual design because Hometown Sports is who we ordered the t-shirts from. We have asked wildlife artist Dale Thompson to design our shirt next year. Special thanks to Lion Marcella Leiter for working every shift for 2 days. We couldn’t have done it without her or all the others who put in so many hours.
Way to go Day Break Lions.
AUGUST LION OF THE MONTH
King Lion Lee chose Lion Jackie Hollingsworth for her work on the Arts Festival. She helped coordinate the food with the night Club, made up signs, menus and sales receipts/tickets for the food sales, and will tally up the final sales figures for the food and t-shirt sales. She and her daughter worked the beer garden food sales both nights, along with Marcie Leiter. She even got her husband to help out in the beer garden. Way to go, Jackie, thanks for your hard work.
8/25 ZONE MEETING
We have a chance to show the other clubs in the zone what we are made of this month when we host the 8/25 Zone Meeting. WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP. Zone Chairman Rena Larson asked our club to host her first meeting this year. Social hour will start at 6pm, dinner will be served at 7pm. Dinner will be your choice of Swiss Steak or Turkey Breast. It will be a full dinner with salad bar and dessert. Cost will be between $12 -$15. WE NEED RAFFLE PRIZES for the raffle table. If everyone brings a nice prize and all the other clubs bring a nice prize, we can show the other clubs what a raffle is supposed to be!! We will need help setting up that afternoon and we will need help cleaning up. Most importantly, we need EVERY DAY BREAK LION to be there. This is the first time we have hosted a meeting and we need to show ourselves off. Let’s make King Lion Lee and Zone Chair Rena proud of our Club.
NITE OF CHOCOLATE
Be thinking about our Nite of Chocolate. It is a great event and we have members from other clubs already asking when it is so they can be sure not to miss it. We will need a committee chairman. Beware, if you don’t come to regular meetings you usually get unanimously elected to be chairman of a committee!!! It could be you!
Be sure to check out the article on our own King Lion Lee and Secretary Cindy Morey who were high-lighted in MD19’s August Newsletter.
