District 19C Newsletter

Carl J. Freeland, District Governor

April 2004

A Note from DG Carl:

I want to say thank you to everyone who joined us for the Daffodil Parade.  It was great fun for all of us!  We had the LCI banner carriers, the flag-bearers, plus some other Lions on foot.  There was also the Governor’s car and PZC Tom Lonn drove a truck with signs telling the onlookers what Lions do.  The topper for us was the float from the Kent Lions’ Cornucopia Days.  Our TV coverage was great this year; the cameramen made us come to a stop so that they could film us longer to give us better exposure.

My year is almost over and I have seen a lot of good works being done throughout our district.  We had a great conference; we have elected some really good incoming leaders; we have been improving our new leader training; and one of the biggest accomplishments is the founding of the Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in the Olympia area.

Our LEMPR team has done a great job this year.  We invited the Zone Chairpersons in so that we could get new ideas and it really has improved our workability.  Our team has worked hard to get information down to the club level.

We have continued with the district retreat so that our upper leadership can set goals for all of us.  This gives us a path to follow for the upcoming year.

We will be seeing you down the road at your Zone Socials and club officer installations.  Once again, I thank you all for your help and hard work this year.

Your District Governor
Carl J. Freeland

APRIL 30 – MAY 1

New Officer Training

Your District 19C Leadership Committe has scheduled three training sessions for incoming club officers.  Registration for each session is at 8:30 am, with a start time of 9:00 am.  We hope to be out no later than noon!

This year we are trying to address the concerns of someof the participants of previous years' training.  Therefore, we will devote extra time to the club secretaries in order to emphasize both manual and on-line reporting.

The Leadership Committee is really pleased to have such consistency in trainers this year.  It is our hope to have a separate session for Membership, Extension, and Branch Clubs in the fall.

For further information, please contact VDGE Ida Malone at idahmalone@comcast.net or call (360 377-5181.
